The manual head on my '85 H34 is a Groco Model HF but I have no way of knowing if it is original equipment. It looks as though it's a replacement or someone moved it over a little as there are abandoned drill holes in the fiberglass beneath it and just to the side of its present mounting position. It has a Y valve and seems to work OK but there is friction in the plunger. Do you know where I can get some manufacturer's literature/diagrams on this model?

Rebuild it and lubricate it

After you get the exploded drawing that shows how to open up the pump, buy a rebuild kit and a tube of SuperLube. After you've replaced all the parts in the rebuild kit, slather it LIBERALLY with SuperLube. It should work smoothly all season.

Don't think it was original.

Mike: I do not think that this was the original head. Our '85 H'31 came with a CW head. We replaced it with a Groco after about 2 years because the manifold base(connects bowl to pump) cracked. The price for the replacment part was nearly as expensive as the new Groco. I have had three heads in my boat over the years, CW, Groco and Jabsco. The hole pattern on each one of them was different. I have had to drill at least one new hole for each head.
