Hi, About the hatches on the Vega you might want to consider using marine
plywood 5/8 thick cut to the old hatch pattern. Using weldwood contact cement,
apply formica, any type of wood pattern formica that fits your fancy. Lots of
times you can get remenents from the local kitchen cabinet top maker. Use a heat
gun (hair dryer) to apply the side edges formica to make the turns so there
is no open grain on the plywood. Stain and shellac, and then varnish the inside
to suit you tastes. You can have the hatches any kind of wood grain you heart
