I currently am the unfortunate owner of an 83’ 30’ Hunter, in need of serious help. Almost the entire interior has been damaged either by neglect or elements in either case I have missing parts as well as un-repairable parts… My question, are there plans available for me to copy and re-build this ship. Aftermarket? Factory? Anything would be helpful. Thank you,

Probably not

Hunter will most likly not have parts. Depending on what is left, you may wish to design your own interior. You don't have to be too enthraled with teak, besides it is awfully expensive.. Look at interiors of older boats, especially wooden ones for beadboard bulkheads and ceilings etc. Forget carpet on the sides of the hull. Insulate and cover with wood slates. Think it out and you will be suprised with the innovative ideas you can come up with or copy. Something to do in the winter which in Wisconsin is about 11 months anyway. Have fun.

You can restore the boat with a little creative

thinking and a sewing machine. Most interior cushions can be made by visiting a large Fabric warehouse store. They sell not only the fabric, but foams as well. If you want to replace hull carpeting...I have used indoor/outdoor available from Lowes orHome Depot. Mahongany decking is cheaper than teak and looks awesome finished. I use it all the time. I even made a transom platform using scraps. Don't be too depressed. It can be fun!

JC II!!

John Cherubini II is the son of the boat's designer, and sometimes frequents this forum. I believe he may have designed the interior of the 30. In any case, he may be able to help you. He owns (and is refitting for blue water racing) an h25. You may be able to reach him through the owners directory. If not, what until he puts in an appearance, and jump in with your need. I agree with the encouragement of other comments, but I would arrange to visit another h30 to see the original layout. David Lady Lillie

Sounds like fun

I'd hang up any thoughts of a supplier of OEM type interior components. Strip out all the junky stuff and start from scratch. One of the other posters mentioned the price problem with teak. I think its overrated myself, especially for interior work. I do like solid wood over ply, but that's just a personal prejudice. There are some great beautiful woods comparable to teak at a fraction of the cost. I needed a couple of seaworthy peices of wood backing this week and saw some 2' x'3' 1/2" and similar solid beech peices on ebBay last night for 5 bucks. A furniture company is liquidating pallets of them. I bet you could put together a great interior for under $300 and sweat, have exactly the layout you want, and have fun doing it. Jack

If your going to do it

I found a site where a guy restored an old Pearson Triton. He did about the best job in restoration that I ever saw. He has lots of photo’s and explains what he did step by step. Take your time and have fun. http://www.triton381.com/
