I have a leak that seems to be coming from the mounting holes of the bow pulpit. Does anyone know how to remove the bow pulit from the deck. Are the deck plates thru bolted? I can't see any nuts underneath. Are the nuts visible if I remove the Teak trim that covers the anchor locker? Any assistance would be much appreciated. I am afraid of leaving this condition unattended and having the deck core get wet. Thank you

Pulpit Bolts

I'm in the process of sealing my deck fittings now including the bow pulpit. There is an access port inside the anchor locker that lets you reach around with a wrench to the forward legs nuts. I tied a string to my wrench cause your'e gonna drop it. I also removed the interior panel and found a fiberglass panel. I reasoned that if the wood covers the glass, I could make a hole in the glass to see the rear pulpit nuts. Guess what? no nuts. There must be inserts molded in the deck for the 2 aft legs. Watch out for the bow light wire, it runs down the Forward starboard side leg and has no slack, mine didn't. Iv'e got it all apart and cleaned up and as soon as the weather breaks I'll re seal with 3M 4200 adhesive sealant. good luck

Rebed

I have hull 2226, 1973 model. I've rebedded the pulpet and everything else on the deck! If you're going to rebed the pulpet, consider insalling the stem reinforcement kit. On my older boat the deck had seperated from the stem. I think this may have been do the previous owner's installation of the adjustable backstay and his racing her. Since I installed the stem kit, and rebedded the forward pulpet, forstay mount and running lights I've had no problems with water leaks at all. Use a flexible bedding material, stay away from the permanent 3M stuff, It works great but is a drag to remove and work around. Campy out!
