I'm not so sure what you have- but when I changed the engine, I also got
a 25mm coupling and a new
25mm shaft, so I could utilize the stuffing box and stern bearing.
If you used to have a sleeve and a shaft inside (for the combi-prop),
then the sleeve (25mm) went through
the stuffing box and stern bearing; the shaft (much smaller) was
connected to the engine and prop. The sleeve
did nothing but to change the pitch.
If you turn down a 1" shaft to 25mm, (if you have a 1" coupling now),
and leave 1" for the coupling, then you
have to feed the shaft backwards (and remove the engine first!)
I recommend getting a new 25mm coupling and a 25 mm shaft- makes life
easier! But make sure the 25mm shaft
fits the combi-prop!!!!!! I think you'll need also a new prop!
