I've removed a few thru-hulls in my time, and I've enjoyed 100% success.
The most difficult ones, being that you can't get a wrench in the interior thru-hull space is to
use a Dremmel Tool from the outside of the boat.
Use the fibre-reinforced cut-off wheel and insert into the interior of the outer flange. Be very
careful and remove the bronze material from the tube section of the outer flange, but ensure
that the little grab lobes remain so you can use the removal spanner for the final extraction.
Inserting the new clean fitting doesn't need the effort of normal spanner removal effort, so you
should feel confident that you can get enough torque on the securing nut.
Good Luck,
