Since we have stock in West Marine I'd advise everyone to buy the tiller
tamer from them. What we use though is the same system that Tom describes, a
bungee cord wrapped twice around the tiller and attached to heavy padeyes on
each side of the cockpit well. Skip the tiller tamer and buy the padeyes and
bungee from West Marine. The added advantage is you can clip your tether to
the padeyes before you exit the cabin. (use heavy backing plates!) We've
sailed for up to a 1/2 hr without touching the tiller and when we've had to
adjust it a simple nudge with your foot is all it takes. We use 3/8 for the
jib sheets and find it is just fine. Walt, Lyric #120
