On the subject of air vents, I replaced the one in the head with a solar-powered
fan vent (if I recall, I had to slightly enlarge the hole) that I have been very
pleased with. They suck out air passively when the wind blows, and when the sun
shines the fan blows something like 700 cubic feet/hr? Up in damp downeast Maine
we have no problem with mildew or any boat odors.

Yeah. A few years ago, I replaced both vents with solar vents--one for an intake, one for exhaust. This configuration works great; keeps the boat fresh.

Just a quick comment on air vents. I put one in the foredeck hatch. Saw lots
of other boats with one there. Oops! realized after the fact that it could
be pulled out giving access to the anyone wanting to enter the boat. All
they needed to do was reach through and un-dog the hatch.
P.S. Hey Steve, Whats the approximate latitude of London? Judy was curious
the other day and no world charts around here.
