If you are talking about that little fine screen filter that is about 2-3 inches in diameter, I had a little problem with that too. Mostly identifying where the seam to the lid was. The lid looks like a little cymbal or "top-hat" that musicans use. So the seam is along the top face of the enclosure. Once I found that, it wasn't hard getting it off. It's hard to find the seam with all the paint on it.

Used carburator cleaning spray to clean the screen.

I had to change the gasket when replacing the lid. I used paper and permatex, but have since read that Buna-N rubber is preferred for fuel gaskets. I got some from McMaster Carr. Though not sure if you can get it in really thin sheets from them.

Thanks Roy.

Any tips on how you got the cover off once you identified it?
A thin bladed knife?

All the best,

John
