Can anyone give me the exact information on the Beta engine for a Vega? I have a friend stranded in Sidney, BC with a blown engine and he needs the info on the Beta or any other engine that will work to see if he can get one there. Thanks.

Hi Judy;
I don't know much about the Beta engine (though I'm told
it's a good engine for a Vega)
I've installed a Yanmar 1GM10 Diesel and I think it's a
good engine. It requires little change in the engine mount-
I installed it myself. I use a 25 mm shaft and use the
existing stuffing box and stern bearing. The cost (new)
should be near $6.000.
