hi group,
you could replace the gold edging with an iron on veneer. i just did it on
another boat and it came out nicely. it gives a solid wood kind of look.

Hi
The veneers are available at any woodworking shop or good lumber
yard.I could not get the veneer in teak so I used mahogany and
stained it to match. The product comes in a roll wider than the
plywood. After you apply it, with a household clothes iron, you then
trim off the excess and apply a stain, oil, varnish etc.The only
problem I can envision on the Vega cubbies is trying to get the heat
into the inside bend of the corners, but that should be surmountable.
