Raymarine x-5 autopilot ball bearings not staying put

Hello,

I recently replaced the wheel pilot on my st4000 with the newer raymarine x- 5 unit (used) but it has problems with the ball bearings keep falling out! Im debating on buying a brand new unit. Anyone know what could be the problem with the old one? this a common problem?

Sounds like the 3 parts of bearing clip (A18085) is not sitted properly in the Drive Ring (A18076) or something there is broken. This eBay link will give you an idea of the parts.
