our new boat came with a large Raymarine GPS plotter.
In the past I have used Offshore Navigator to do trip planning, routes etc. and a small handheld Garmin at the helm.
What is the best way to do this with the Raymarine and be able to upload the routes onto the plotter ?
I also just discovered my Offshore Navigator CD will not load into windows 7 on my new laptop.......... fortunately my old laptop is running fine.........

I have the windows 7 install update disk. If you call MAPTECH they will send you the updated install disk with the latest tide and current data for 25 bucks or so.

The alternative work around is to copy it completely from your older computer, and then export the appropriate registry keys. If I can find my home brewed patch, I will let you know.

Raymarine offers a free nav planning program - RayTech RNS - download on their site. It is upgradable to the full feature version for on board interfacing with RayMarine instruments and Navionics. I use the planning version at home to create routes, then download them onto a Navionics/Raymarine compatable reader card (CF I believe) which I then bring to the boat to upload into the chartplotter. For on-board navigating I have been using the laptop with MapTech Offshore Navigator getting the position fix from a Garmin hand held independently from the Raymarine instruments. This effectively provides the redundance of two completely independent navigation programs. The proceedure may change because I just installed the Raymarine computer USB interface which would allow me to interface the laptop directly with the Raymarine instrument package (E90wide).

I have the C120w display with radar and weather receiver. It came with the south american charts built in so I just bought the USA east coast gold chip for it. I am not familiar with Raymarine GPS units so have been spending some time just getting used to their menus etc.
I just noticed Raymarine have a new planning software for $50, called Voyage Planner, has anyone tried it ?
thanks for all the tips,
Bob
