been cruising since first wk of June. Sometimes in real dense fog through narrow passes. This plotter is having problems zooming and freezing up. When i zoom, using manual controls, the cursor takes off for parts unknown. Touchscreen is really flaky. When it freezes up, i have no control over plot functions or radar and it happens at the worst time cuz thats when I'm adjusting things. Sometimes it just freezes up when it feels like it. The rotary knob feels hard to turn and then easy. I think that whole assembly needs to be replaced. On a 3 or 4 yr old plotter....So then, out comes the ipad with Navionics and it has saved my bacon several times. On the E7, I've done the touchscreen cal several times and its been to RM for the touchscreen recall. Anybody else using this plotter having these issues? Oh ya, not the latest Lighthouse II software but these are pretty basic functions.....winter project: get USB power to the helm...

well you should update the software, this is the hybrid touch correct? The touch screen doesn't work well if it is wet. I don't know if the fog would have been enough. All the functions can be driven via the knobs.

I also have an E7D and have noticed similar issues. I don't know what OS they are using but it is not iOS. I rarely use the touch screen for the reasons you state. It is used with my autopilot so I will mostly use the knobs. I treat it carefully when on a fixed route.

I have a fair number of these out there and far too many of them exhibit issues similar to yours despite all of them being "fixed" under the screen recall. I have also had a few crash entirely where even with super secret Raymarine instructions we could not unlock the plotter and it required a return to Nashua for repair. If you are not running v17.45 software download that and begin there.

Current s/w is 16.47. So Maine, what your suggesting is they are writing software without testing and validating it and then publishing it.. Today, started down the Georgia Strait and had it and the pilot going to the cursor. Things went to sleep twice with no alarms of XTE..and we were off the course..Are the other RM plotters doing the same thing? Funny how an ipad disply can work just fine even in fog.....with no knobs...
