Raymarine Downvision vs Chirp - worth the extra money & effort?

Replacing our old chartplotter with (probably) a Raymarine Axiom.
For sonar, I could go Chirp which uses a regular round thru-hull transducer (easiest to install) or go for the higher resolution Downvision which uses a teardrop transducer with fairing blocks (more of a PITA to install "correctly").
I'm curious if anyone using the Downvision feels it was worth the extra dollars and installation work?
Not really considering their Realvision as that is a lot more money plus two transducers to mount.
It seems like it would be cool/entertaining to see whats under the boat in greater detail - or maybe not?
I also know the Chirp transducers can shoot through the hull effectively but read several places this is not viable with the Downvision units because of their wide multi-beam nature.

While Chirp/downvision is a cool technology for fishermen I can't imagine that it would be of any benefit on your Aloha 32 unless you just wanted to see the fish and bottom with the grand kids... I always think of my depth gauge as more of a "shallow gauge". As you point out the DV transducers are a more involved install......
