I'm in the process of installing a Smartpilot X-5 Wheel auto pilot. Trying to get a the optimal position for the fluxgate compass and after running wires I'm about 2' short.

Can the fluxgate compass wire be extended?

It looks the same but was wondering if the cable for the ST60 plus wind instrument is the same cable, and if it can be shortened... I have extra of that cable coiled up. Any suggestions or knowledge on this?

thanks

RayMarine's reply

For everyone's reference here is RayMarine's reply: "You can certainly extend a fluxgate compass cable. The preferred method is to use solder and shrink tube when splicing. The wind instrument will also operate with a shorter cable."
