Raymarine Auto Pilot Display Unit Not Displaying

Two weeks ago I installed a Raymarine X5 AP. Got everything hooked up and turned it on and off a few times as I read through the manual but I didn't have time to calibrate. Today I was going to calibrate it but when I tried turning it on nothing happened. I used my multimeter to check power to the computer and got over 12 volts. Then I unplugged the Sea Talk cable that goes into the back of the ST6002 display unit and checked to see if it was getting power and it was. I tried plugging the cable into the other Sea Talk connector on the back of the ST6002 but still the display wouldn't display. So I'm pretty sure there is power to the ST6002 display but it won't come on.

Has this happened to anyone before? This is my first Raymarine product and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or maybe have a faulty display.

I have many Raymarine products including their Autopilot and have had good luck over the years. Check out the Raymarine web site. They have a trouble shooting section where you can ask a question and you will immediately get a response. The answers will be from Raymarine tech guys in response to questions from other customers who had similar questions in the past. If the answers are not helpful, you have the option to let them know and a Raymarine tech will answer your specific question within a couple of days. They have been very prompt and knowledgeable in the past.

You can call Raymarine Teck support at no charge and many others on this forum have done the same and had good helpful results,they will walk through the questions and test that are possible to fix the problem.
I my self have had them help a few times with great help.

Joe, I have installed hundreds of Raymarine systems as a certified tech. If you are getting power to the display it should come on. You should get something even if it is an error message or incorrect info. Of course the obvious is you are holding the display button in long enough to turn the unit on. Check to be sure that the display button is not stuck. This does happen and the unit will not turn on if the button is stuck in. If still nothing you need to contact Raymarine. I can not tell you how many units I have installed and parts either did not work out of the box or failed within hours or days. Chuck
