I have experienced problems with the control unit of my Raymarine 4000 auto pilot which is installed on my 1998 B352 . All the control buttons work consistently with the exception of the "AUTO" button. I often need to press the button a number of times to get it to engage the system. I understand that Raymarine does not support the 4000 any longer and replacement system would cost approximately $2,000. That's a lot of cash to fix one button! Any ideas out there? Murray

I havehad the same issue. I just assumed that the little red rubber cover on the button is old and you just have to push it just right: so I am interested in this thread also. I have just learned how to live with it.

I agree with Frank, it it not a major problem right now, I just need to press the "AUTO" button a number of times to get the system engaged. My big concern is that the problem gets worse and than I will not have use of my auto pilot system. I was wondering if it made sense to have a technical person look at it and see if the button can be replaced. Has anyone taken that step?
