My '87 O'Day 322 does not have a raw water strainer in the engine cooling water intake. I assume it did not have one when the boat was new. This apparently hasn't been a problem for previous owners, but I'm not comfortable without one, since I am concerned about fouling the heat exchanger on the engine. The only problem is, there does not seem to be adequate space in the engine area to mount the strainers I have found in catalogs, online, etc. Has anyone else run into this problem, or could someone suggest a more compact strainer than say a Groco ARG-750 which would be adequate for this application?
