I realize I mis-titled my previous question about the stern leak. I also found water in the engine oil after running it for about 15 minutes . The shipyard mechanic said The raw water pump may be shot and is leaking water into the engine oil and should be replaced. I have a 21 hp, 3 cyl universal diesel. Any thought on this one ? Thanks again Bill

had the same thing on my M-18 last month.

the new raw water pump cost me $139.00 and was an upgrade from the original Sherwood pump, which is no longer made. Replacing the pump is a very easy do it yourself project: close the intake thru-hull,remove the hoses at the pump, remove the 4 nuts holding the pump and remove the old pump. Scrape off the old gasket, exchange the hose nipples form the old pump to the new one, install the new gasket, pump, nuts, hoses and clamps. OPne the thru hull and stat the engine and check for leaks. Be sure you change your oil & filter to remove the water that got into it before you run the engine. Hope this helps!
