I have a 1987 Catalina with a Universal M25XP enginge. I noticed water dripping from the rear of the raw water pump. When the pump shaft was removed I noticed corrosion so I decided to replace the entire pump. I now have the old model Sherwood pump. I went to the local Marine store and the salesman suggested replacing with an Oberdorfer pump. I know Catalina used Oberdorfer pumps, then switched to Sherwood, the upgraded the Sherwood . Does anyone know if this is recommended or should I install the new style Sherwood. THanks Dave

Dave You can use either pump. They both work just fine. The Sherwood has their screws on the pump facing aft, which makes it a bear to replace the impeller, which should be an easy job. The Oberdorfer has but four screws facing normally for regular people to be able to work on. Check out both pumps and see which works for you.
