Raw Sewage Dump

Last week we had a terrible storm that dumped over 4" of rain in less than an hour. Needless to say, flooding became rampant and to alleviate the downtown Chicago flooding issues, the city opened the sluce? gates and dumped enough raw sewage in Lake Michigan to close down beaches for a good 3 days due to high bacteria counts and it turned the water brown.Needless to say, boating was very light over a beautiful weekend. Couldn't swim and it did smell in certain areas.Where's the EPA when you need em!!

Just another example of govermental BS.

Bob:Now we really don't want every boater on Lake Michigan pumping overboard, but!If every boater on Lake Michigan and the rest of the great lakes pumped overboat for the entire year, I doubt that there would be anywhere near the contamination as you experinenced in ONE day. My understanding was that the city of Port Huron has been doing this for years. It was cheaper to pay fines that clean up their act. Why isn't their some equality here.

Southwest Lower Michigan...

was closed for a time as well this past week. E-coli risk they said---possibly from bird droppings, and the high lake temperatures we've had for so long. They re-opened them on Sunday.Well, now we know, don't we. Steve is right.
