The new Raritan PHII LBA conversion in our boat has been getting good reviews from the admiral, but she has one question / clarification.

When the "pump" lever is in the down position - it is (apparantly) hard to grab the wet/dry selector knob and turn it from wet to dry.

When the pump lever is "up" - of course the wet/dry knob is very easy to access......however........

The lettering on on the knob sez to **NOT* turn the knob when "operating the pump"....

Does "operating the pump" mean when the pump lever is "in motion" ? or does it mean "any time the pump handle is not at the bottom of the stroke" ?

Basically the bottom line is - can the "wet/dry" knob be switched when the pump handle is in the "up" position ? ( or is this considered to be "operating the pump" ?)

Those in the know - please advise !!

(It's a shame to have to ask these silly questions - but when marine stuff is in question - well - it never hurts to ask - logic does not always seem to prevail.)

Thanks.

It means...

While the pump is in motion...while actively pumping. It doesn't matter where the pump handle is, as long as the pump is still when you turn the knob. And it doesn't matter whether the pump handle is left up or down when the toilet isn't in use.

Btw...it's not good to switch from wet to dry or vice versa while pumping any toilet...not just the PH II/PHC.

Thanks Peggy for the clarification !!

Nice to see that for this time - the instructions actually mean what they say.
