Raritan PHII not pumping in water...will pump out

spent 3 hours laying on my side trying to open up the pump enough to see the ball or spring but was unable to see anything...took the intake hoses off the front bottom of head...but I am still at a loss..can't see anything like a spring...there is a little square dealy on the front surface of the pump which I can unscrew easily, but what is that suppose to access? ...I'm going to add one more clarification from what I posted originally; the head will pump out and drain the bowl when I pour water in...but not easily; by that I mean it is hard to pump out.....am getting ready to call Raritan again...

Pat, why not take the entire head OUT of that cramped, hard-to-work place? It'd make your life a LOT easier.

I did speak twice again yesterday to a fellow named Jerry at Raritan. He provided excellent customer service. My set up where the intake hose connects to the pump is not the prototypical so I think I know what I'm to do next....the fellow who installed the PHII changed the intake location to the lower front and did not use the barbed connector, rather just used an attachment of some sort and ss hose clamps on the intake..so I think I know how to move forward. Just need time and improved weather.

I think your advise is wise...I should probably have removed it at first....I guess I was hesitant because I would have to move it to the main salon and we had just cleaned that area after putting it in the water....I'm going to head back out there tomorrow and hopefully will have some time to look things over.....I have the entire Raritan parts list and a very detailed drawing and there is no escaping that mine was installed slightly different than the prototype drawing indicates...thanks for your help, Pat

Spring is here, the weather is warm...so why don't you take it all the way off the boat, onto the dock??? Or if it's too rainy for that, put it in a garbage bag and take it home work on it your garage or carport.

I'd have to see a photo of your toilet to be sure, but I don't think it is different from the "prototype" because the inlet fitting on the PHII is on the front of the pump...at the bottom of the "flush/dry" valve housing. (Btw, the little square nut with a hole in it on the front of that housing is the air valve, not to be confused with anything to do an anti-siphon device. If you'd like to send me some photos of the pump (not the bowl...all look alike), I'll see what if anything is different.

Btw, Jerry at Raritan is very good at his job...you can trust his advice.
