Peggie, In your book you mention two products for keeping odor away from holding tanks. One is Raritan KO. I understand that this product that "works with the aerobic bacteria in sewage" it is also supposed break down solids and paper and preventing sludge from building up . You also mention Odorlos a product in which the active ingredients are nitrates, which extract oxygen preventing the tank contents from becoming septic. Which is the better or more effective product. I like the idea of not only controlling odor but breaking down solids and sludge as the Raritan KO seems to do

If breakdown is your only concern, don't use eithe

Waste breaks down quite well without any help...solids are 75% water to start with and dissolve very quickly in water, and the only TP you should be using is the cheap flimsy stuff that practically dissolves in your hand if it even gets damp. There's plenty of bacteria in the tank to break down both. That is, unless you use chemicals products that kill bacteria. So eliminating foul odor out the vent every time the toilet is flushed or the boat rocks even a little is the only reason to add anything to the tank. The choice between K.O. and Odorlos comes down to which one does the best job of eliminating odor in your system.
