We are looking to change out our salt water Jabsco toilets with fresh water models. Given the real estate challenges, we are leaning towards the Raritan Fresh Head (fresh/manual) or the Masterflush Dometic Orbit 7200 (fresh/electric) - Raritan is in the lead. Any experience with either - vote one way or the other? Sailboat - Cataline 42. Thank you!

Which to choose depends on whether you want to stay with a manual toilet or switch to macerating electric. The Fresh Head is the ONLY manual toilet designed to use pressurized fresh water, so the only only one that can safely be connected to the fresh water system..the intake line teed into the fresh water line to the head sink cold water supply line (and a discharge line, of course). There is no intake pump, just a lever that works like a faucet to allow flush water to flow.

All macerating electric toilets need their own separate dedicated circuit, shared by nothing else--not even cabin lights--that can pull power away from it...low voltage will damage the motor. So you'd not only have wiring to run, but at least a 15v amperage draw with each flush. An electric solenoid valve in the cold water line to the head sink replaces the intake pump.

Hope this helps with your decision.

Thank you @Peggie Hall HeadMistress ! We do have a dedicated circuit available. However, given the pedestal and room available, the Dometic Orbit 7100/7200 appears to be my only real macerating electric option (unless I build out the pedestal a bit). Any experience with the quality and longevity of the Masterflush Dometic Orbit 7100/7200? Or is the Raritan quality that much better to warrant staying manual for this use case?

The Dometic Orbit isn't your only choice...The pump/motor assembly on the Raritan SeaEra QC (fresh water version) doesn't only have to be mounted front-back...it can be mounted to be on either side of the bowl. Raritan SeaEra QC promo sheet and yes, Raritan IS that much better quality. They're only marine toilet mfr left who still makes everything in the US and everything they make is always top rated...plus their tech support is outstanding.

Shop retailers for best price...Defender has it WITH household bowl starting at $839 and also offers upgraded flush panel options https://defender.com/en_us/raritan-household-fresh-water-seaera-qc-toilet They also offer free shipping on $100+ orders. I haven't shopped any further.
