Hello again everyone, still trying to figure out the various cleats, cams, and cables on my Mac 25. Thoughts and advice would be appreciated!

The first pic is of some apparatus I haven't seen before, they appear to be some kind of hooks mounted to the bow pulpit. My only guess is that they are for securing the anchor while underway? Am I close?

The next pic is looking at the starboard side of the cockpit. I have no idea what was attached at "A" or what should be there but there is an identical attachment point on the port side as well. Also I can't figure out why there is a cam cleat next to the starboard winch but not the port-side?

The next pic is also from the starboard side looking forward along the deck. There are a pair of cleats that I can only assume correspond to a pair of horizontal pulleys forward near the mast. I have no idea what these are for! Also the fairlead in this picture has a matching fairlead on the port side, are those for the jib sheets?

Finally, in the last two pics, there is a cable attached to the same point on the mast as the back stay but is much shorter with a rope attached to it. Is this a boom lift? If it is what is its purpose and what should I do with it while under sail?

Sorry for all the questions but this boat is far more complex than the Hobies I'm used to!

you are correct....

The next pic is looking at the starboard side of the cockpit. I have no idea what was attached at "A" or what should be there but there is an identical attachment point on the port side as well. Also I can't figure out why there is a cam cleat next to the starboard winch but not the port-side? maybe a Bimini frame attaching point or dodger

The next pic is also from the starboard side looking forward along the deck. There are a pair of cleats that I can only assume correspond to a pair of horizontal pulleys forward near the mast. If it is what is its purpose and what should I do with it while under sail? its called a topping lift to hold the boom up when your main sails is down and keep it off your head

hope this helps

Pic 1:
Holder for Danforth type anchor.
Pic 2:
Jib Traveler is likely actually a GENOA Track. The lines for a genny run different from a working type jib (out side of the shrouds).
"A" a mount for some type of "bimini" - who knows what they actually used.
"Cam cleat" - likely owner used that instead of the regular cleat. Perhaps he never got around to the other side?
"Jib Cleat?" Yes and/or for the genny.
Pic 3: Jib sheet fairleads. The "turning blocks" are to run halyards back to the cockpit from the mast. That may be what the cam cleat is for (explains one side only).
Pic 4: Known as a "topping lift" - we rigged one on ours and use it all the time along with the "pigtail" that sometimes hangs from the backstay on Macs.

My best guess I guess.

There are many many ways to rig the same boat. Don't get to hung up - extra cleats are always useful.

You can always re rig it to your liking.

Good luck.

My bet is the skipper liked to sit on the port side as do I and this way he could latch the starboard jib sheet with the cam cleat. I like to keep the tiller on my right and operate lines with my left.

On the return blocks by the mast yes, this is called a deck organizer and one would place blocks at the bottom of the mast to route the halyards for both main and jib back to the cleats without going over the pop top. Mine is similar but on the port side and I installed clutches rather than cleats

The fairleads would probably be used to route jib sheets and I think some folks may use them as an anchor point for baby stays or mast raising set up.

The bow thing is for anchor, we all agree there. I didn't have any so I attached a piece of 3" PVC to the rail to stow mine.

I'm not sure what that little bracket is for by the winch. I would buy what others have said and it may be for a Bimini.

The topping lift comes in handy. I had one but made some changes that required me to get rid if it. I miss it. You can always disconnect it and use it to help recover a MOB. Also when at dock, you can swing the boom away from right over the companionway door and not have to climb under it.

Thanks a bunch yall! This has been very helpful! If there is little wind tomorrow I may "try on" some sails and practice rigging them. Hopefully get on the water by Sunday! Would you recommend just using a working jib the first time out until I get a feel for this ole' girl?

Can you post the pics of port and starboard side of the pop-top? There should be various cleats there. Like the actual jib cleat (yes, the "fairlead" is for the jibsheet, but the jib cleat should be on top of the cabin). as stated above, the genoa sheets should run outside the shrouds, through the traveler, and around the winch to the cleat. in winds above 10 KTS that winch is the only thing letting me tighten the genoa sheets.

Well bad news, I finally got around to trying out the 10 different sails that came with my boat but so far I have only found one jib that fits! All of the others are way too long for my mast! Still have a few more to try but they look like spinnakers to me. May well be screwed.

If you decide to sell a used spinnaker for Mac 25, let me know...

Will do, I have to make sure I have a spare as I'm not sure if they are even for a Mac 25.
Anyone know a good place to buy/ sell used sails?
