Mast rake
The rough number for mast rake on most production cruising boats is 1 to 2 percent of mast height. The Hunter 27 came with various mast sizes, a standard rig and tall rig. Standard mast height is 33' 1" and tall rig 36' 3"
If you have the shorter mast and use an average of 1 1/2% the rake should be set at 6". For the taller rig the rake would set at 6 1/2".
Also a factor would be the average wind conditions in your sailing area. Higher wind areas, like San Fransisco Bay, might require slightly less rake, say 1%, whereas lighter wind areas might use 2%.
After dialing in the rake and pre-tuning your rig you should take the boat for a test sail. Note that a test sail means beating with correct sail trim on both tacks.
