So I have never sailed before and decided to buy a 15 ODay daysailer. She was very old and had been neglected for years. I was replacing all the lines that had dry rotted and have a major problem that I can't figure out. The line that is used to raise the keel doesn't do it's job. I was able to successfully replace the line that drops it, but the other doesn't work. I must be missing a step in the threading of the line or something. Any ideas how I can find out how to do this? I'm anxious to get her in the water for the first time.

Check through the archives on this site and I'm pretty sure you'll find a sketch of the centerboard pendant line set up.

There are previous postings about the CB rigging for the Day Sailer II (16'9") but I have not seen any about the O'DAY 15 (early model, 1971-73). The Newer 15 (1981-84) had a daggerboard so info on that boat won't help. The Javelin (14') had a steel CB and just an up line. The Osprey 15'9" had a lever-operated CB.

Anyway, I am not familiar enough with the CB rigging for the 15 to give much advice beyond give Rudy at D&R Marine a call (508) 644-3001. It is times like this that I really miss Robbie Pierce, a former VP at O'DAY who used to lurk on the old Sailnet O'DAY-List! He knew a lot about the 15!

If you could post a pic of your boat and the area of the CB trunk maybe I could try to help.
