Raising the Jib

I was putting on the jib on my furler. It raised to the top no problem and I attached the tack to the furler. Then I noticed that the bottom 18" of the cord on the front of the luff was not in the channel. Is this the was it is meant to be or does this somehow feed into the lower part of the furler channel?

Thanks.

If I'm visualizing this right: The feed cutout in the foil is 18" from the bottom, the lift tape is in the channel from there to the top, bit not below it? Yea out should silk be in the channel. Just take the bottom of the trailer and feed it in manually. Sometimes getting the last couple inches in and the wrinkle pulled out is hard, especially if the tape is a tight fit. Sailcote McLube helps. You should have some onboard for your mainsail slides or boltrope anyway.

Ours is about the same as yours. Our genoa is a deck sweeper that has the bolt rope the full length of the luff. The slot in the furler for the bolt rope is about 18" off the deck.

That's normal. Usually the bottom of the luff tape ends slightly below the feeder. You CAN if you want put a loop of velcro tape around it to hold it to the foil, but its not necessary.
