I'm thinking of taking a vacation down to the gulf. Possible around the Orange Beach area of Florida. I would like to transport my 26.5 down to the gulf and re-rig. I have never done this on my boat, and would like to know what is involved, any gotcha's so to speak. I would love to be able to find a marina that could also assist in the re-rigging portion. When I get back from where ever, I would hope that the marina would also help me demast, and prepare for travel back home. If anyone has ever done this, any suggestions would be welcome. I would probable like to take off sometime in September. Thank You Torrence J. Jenkins Flash H26.5

It's Easy

As a trailer sailer I do this all the time. There are instructions in your owners manual and it is not complicated. Give yourself plenty of room, watchout for overhead wires and trees etc. and don't forget to attach the bridle. Make sure the mast crotch is in place and put a little extra effort into securing the schrouds and spreader when transporting your boat.

We do it all the time!

Torrence A friend of mine has the same boat he changed the mast step to a step like most Hunter's (with 2 pins) and has not had a problem with it. You just need a couple of guys to take it up and down it's not a big deal to do even with out changing the mast step. Just take your time and doit. It's alway the best to sail your own boat. If you want to change your mast step I can put in touch with him. Cliff cliffr@bright.net .
