This was a happy accident, just a raggedy old scrap of Sunbrella I found in the shed. I don't even know where it came from, but lo and behold, it was perfect for this.
There is a row of snaps along its forward edge (a bolt rope would also do the trick) which keep it from pulling out from under the poptop. The two ropes could go to clutches, cleats, winches or rails. Tuck it under the poptop, tighten the dogs, tie off the ropes, done. No more water gets in under the sliding hatch!
