Rain Shields for ports

I have an O'Day 272 with two small opening ports in the head. Because of the angle they're mounted on, they fill with rainwater, which leaks in some in spite of the rubber gasket, and the water spills inside when the port is opened. Has anyone found a good rainshield that could be used on those ports?

drain hole?

can a small drain hole be drilled thru the sill of the port on the outside so that the rainwater doesn't accumulate? I did that on my cabin ports and no more rain water sits there.
