Hi All, does anyone know how to make one of these ? Iv' been looking around online but Can't find anything good. I just got a 3.5HP that weighs about 30 pounds. I'd like to know what dimension of wood people use and if there are special hardware... I found a nice place right over a vertical piece of the rail so it shold hold more than in the middle.... any tips appreciated ! Gaute

Try These sources

Try the West Marine Catalog page 629 in the 2007 catalog. there are a couple of different ones there. one between $29 and $39, also an expensive but strong Forespar bracket for $275. also try Defender.com, or Beneteau parts on line. Quicker than making your own

outboard bracket

I made my own outboard bracket when I couldn't find one to suit my application. Get two white plastic cutting boards from Target. You'll want them to clamp together on both sides of the rail, like a sandwich. Drill 4 mounting holes so that the bolts, (I used machine screws) for the lower holes rest on the bottom, or middle, rail. Cut short lengths of stiff plastic tubing, as long as your rail diameter, to use as spacers between the boards. Be sure to leave enough room near the top for the outboards clamp, which helps hold the sandwich together. Place it near a vertical for added strength. Took about two hours to complete and looks good.
