Uniden UM525

I have tried different approaches with the cables and also set up the Garmin 545 to NMEA output, my problems is that the cable in the Uniden unit has (Orange NMEA out -)(Green NMEA out +)(Yellow NMEA in -)(White NMEA in +) and the Black Ground not used, so I don't know to which wire are you refering. The Garmin cable has Blue NMEA 1 out/Brown NMEA 1 in/Grey NMEA 2 out/Violet NMEA 2 in, I assume NMEA 2 is for a second device. Thanks for your responses. Gene

Garmin-Uniden wiring configuration

Based on the information from your manuals (and matching the 276c manual and likely the 76) it sounds like the configuration should be as below. I would suggest contacting Uniden to confirm that the yellow and orange can be joined on the Garmin black as it is also the 12v ground. GarminUniden Black NMEA Ground (-)Yellow NMEA in (-), Orange NMEA out (-) Blue NMEA Out 1 +WhiteNMEA In + Brown NMEA in 1 +Green NMEA out + Grey NMEA Out 2 + Second device out + Violet NMEA in 2 + Second device in +

Success!!!!

Thanks to you all for your help, that is a benefit of a group such as this. I got info from Uniden about the connection and it works as it is suppose to. Their info is as follows: Radio-White IN (+) to GPS545 Blue Out Radio-Green OUT (+) to GPS545 Brown IN Radio-Orange OUT (-) & Yellow IN (-) to GPS ground wire The above connection works perfectly in my radio/gps combo. Again thanks to all of you for your help. Gene

A Double Success!!!

Gene & Co., Thanks from me too! I used the same wiring plan on my Uniden 625c Radio & Garmin 172c GPS over the weekend and it worked liked a charm. Now on to bigger and harder projects, like getting my B&G autopilot to recognize the wind speed and direction signal from my Raymarine sensors and guages. Regards, James
