So I replaced my cap When I first bought boat as the old cap looked original and was all rusty. So I called my parts store and got a new one. Never had a problem with overheating however I am noticing radiator fluid at top of cap as well as around neck where cap meets filled tube. I had read of people having the filler tube fail and was thinking this was my problem..... however I am not thinking they sold me the wrong cap and it’s not fully set. Can’t remember old cap but almost certain the final twist of the cap should bring cap tabs under filler tabs...... and almost certain on old boat the cap wings (I don’t know....) line up with the expansion tank hose. My cap does not and it does not lock under the tabs on filler.... am I wrong here??

Thanks!
Greg

Silmilar problem was the overflow hose clamp was too close to the radiator neck and prevented proper tightening.

My cap has two click points. The first is half way after I place the cap on the filler opening. I then have to press on the cap and turn to get it to set in complete closed position.

I found my Yanmar to be extremely picky about the cap, original owner had replaced with aftermarket cap that leaked from the upper most seal when lower seal opens for expansion. Tried several aftermarket caps with same result, dug the factory cap from the nav desk and no leaks. It appears that top rubber gasket is just a little small to completely seal.

Yanmar part...... Yes I don’t have the press and final twist..... I can’t depress cap enough to clear the filler neck tabs. Seems like they may have sold me the wrong cap........

Not really a problem however it does appear that it’s not setting properly.
