I have been upgrading electronics on my hunter 33. I installed a raymarine e95 chart plotter, new i70 instruments, a I 60 wind instrument, and new sea talk ng backbone from helm to nav table to hook everything up. While I had the boat opened up pulling wires I decoded to run power and radar cable to bottom of mast (in headliner below deck). Now I just bought the radar dome (18") and will be installing it soon. I was curious if anyone has done this and ran the cable just in the front part of the in furling mast or have been able to get the wire into the cable chase on each side of mast just in front of the rear chamber that holds the sail.
When I put the wind vane on top I pulled the wire done the same chase as VHF radio with the preinstalled messenger line, out the bottom and into metal cover going below. But the radar is going be part way up mast, and if it is not in conduit I am concerned it might get mixed up with halyards.
Anyone have any experience or advice?
Also I got a seaview mast radar mount (no swivel), does anyone has any advise on these? do they work well?
