Calling all Vision 32 and 36 owners. I need help/suggestions/ experience with mounting of a radar system on my Vision 32. I have seen the pole mounting system on the back of some. I have actually seen them mounted on the mast below the top of the jib. I am wondering what is the experience with this with Vison owners out there. I have thought about having a local company rig a complete "arch" over the back of the boat much like the new Hunters use and make it a complete station with TV/GPS/RADAR/SOLAR PANELS/DINGY DAVITS etc. Your comments, suggestions, experience is welcomed. Mine is Pole Mounted
I mounted mine on a pole on the back of my boat for 2 reasons. Much easier to mount and wire. Was told that I would get a distorted image from mast wipe in rougher seas if mast mounted. Another Vision in our marina that mounted his below the jib mount had to remount above the jib because of sail interference. Hope this helps a little.

I had the same thoughts. Tried three s/s guys and wasn't impressed with their proposals. Finally did it myself with and Edson pole kit with the wings for antennae. Had a s/s 90 degree bracket made to mount the small pole foot on the transom. The pole has a rail connection to stabilize it but it doesn't really 'hold' it. The foot does. Anyway, you can put several antennas on the wings. I used the larger ones so as to put two on each. It would be no problem to put a TV antenna on there; the current owner has and I also have done so on my current L40.5. Used the West Marine antenna with the aluminum mast mount bracket. This whole thing worked out well for me. I kept the GPS antenna on the rail after the recommendation from the electronics guy because there is more stability lower. FYI: IMHO, the Vision mast, since it is unstayed, does have more small frequency movement, especially under motor sailing conditions and I thought that couldn't be real healthy for the transmitter, so the pole seemed better and easier as a kit solution, especially as a do it yourself project. I agree, an aft pole mount is better...
because the larger mast on a V32 would cause a blind spot, as least this was strongly suggested in the Furuno 1621 specs that came with my radar unit. Sort of makes sense and off the back of the boat is out of the way too. I've got the VHF and TV attennas there as well as radar and it is tidy and a shorter run to the nav station than if mounted on th mast. Rodger
