radar mistake

On my 1998 Catalina 320 I asked the dealer to install a radar. I opted for the least expensive system since I typically day sail. The dealer installed a JRC 1000 and placed the display at the nav station, not much help when fog covers the ocean. I now want to either relocate the display to the pod or add another display. The problem is that the JRC 1000 can not accomodate a second display. My one thought was to buy another display and wire it with a rocker switch with an on-off-on so that only one display would be working at any one time. What I am concerned about is how to handle a splitter (if one exists) for the antenna. Any suggestions, or should I simply move the existing nav display to the pod? Thanks.

Radar display

Tom; Move the display to the helm. I have a Raytheon at the helm and love it. That is where you steer from, that should be where you view the radar screen. Put it in a dedicated housing and mount it to the binnacle grab rail, or anywhere you can see it well, you'll be glad you did. Larry W.

MOVE THE DISPLAY

I had the same JRC-1000 RADAR on my C36MKII and the only logical place for it was where the helmsman can use it for navigation and avoidance. Also be sure to do the setup tuning in accorcance with the manual. From the factory i had problems with boats at 2 miles, after tuning the receiver IAW the setup menu (actually pre-tune) i could track boats to 5 miles and lane to 8 to 10.
