A Ratheon small mast mount costs about $200. This seems high for what you get. Has anyone found a quality mast mount for less?

You're right, it's probably overpriced

Unfortunately, almost every marine product is overpriced. Vendors believe that we will pay more for our pleasures, and they are proven right all the time. I have no suggestion for a radar mount that is a good value. At least the Raytheon one should fit properly without a lot of installation grief. I believe that the best products should be of quality and be of good value. It is often hard just to find good quality and a product that lives to it's claims.

Yes, it seems to be overpriced, but it does work and it does fit and make the installation easier. We also added the guard, which is also overpriced, it seems. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije)

A note about marine products and pricing

I, too, used to think I was getting gouged every time I bought marine products. But now that I work with a number of small manufacturers every day, I can tell you first hand that none of them are getting rich selling marine gear. We're acclimated to prices for items made overseas in mass quantities, shipped over here in huge containers, and sold through high volume retailers at low margins. Many of the marine products we buy are made in small quantities (often one-off, on demand), in the US, and sold through vastly smaller distribution channels. Even the largest manufacturers are piddling compares with the giants that dominate the auto aftermarket, home improvement, or general consumer goods. So, while I'm sure we do get it stuck to us now and then, most of these folks are just small businesses trying to earn a living. == end soapbox ==
