I subscribed to this forum on behalf of my friend who recently purchased a Beneteau 323. Radar was just installed on the mast right below the spreaders. However, every time he tacks, the rollerfurling jib catches between the radar unit and the mast. If you have the same boat and radar, where is it installed to avoid this problem? Thanks in advance for your advice.

HI:

Indeed there is a 323 website, which I am sure others in the group will help you find. I cannot be of too much assistance as I have not added radar to our boat, so I would be interested in the ultimate outcome about this issue.

Most of the Beneteaus around here have their radars mounted on a post at the stern.

A solution to the problem of the jib catching on the radar dome would be to install a stainless steel guard around it (commercially available), and/or mount it higher up on the mast. The spreaders are actuallly fairly low on the mast on a 323, so if the radar is mounted near the spreaders, the jib has a higher probability of catching and hanging up.
