We just purchased a 1995 Hunter 29.5. It had a Raytheon RL9 Radar and Raychart 600XX Chart Plotter. The previous owner had replaced the chart plotter with a new model that was not compatible with the Radar unit so he uninstalled the Radar. When he traded this boat in he swapped out his new chart plotters. Long story short, I now have a Raymarine C80 Chart Plotter and am wondering if it is compatible with the RL9 Radar. I have the RL9 unit with all the cable connectors and the dome is still mounted to the mast with the wiring still run back to the cockpit. If they can't work together I will just take off the antenna and sell the whole kit and caboodle on Ebay. Any help would be appreciated.

Try calling Raymarine tech and ask them,I have asked them for help with my ray equipment many times and they always have helped with my problem and helped solve them.

Compaire the manuals

Pull out both manuals and look at the section that list the "Seatalk and NMEA sentences" both can send and receive. If there are "radar sentences" that are being sent but the chart plotter does not understand them then the units are incompatable.
A lot of the sentences use the phrase "... to target" ; Bearing to target distance to target, etc.

Course if the radar does not have a sea talk connection then your pretty much assured they will not work together.

They are not compatible. Raymarine, at last check, was not even supporting the RL series... I have a 10X in my shop, a very nice CRT unit, and I just need one small part for but no such luck...

I didn't think they would be due to age but it was a shot. Thanks all.
