Seems Racor has changed the upper seal design on the replacement filters.

The new seal cross section is a rectangular design and old was conical...

Can't seem to stop the upper seal from leaking:confused:

Will have to call Monday...............

Paul, IIRC those O rings were always square. I take it you have been lubricating them with diesel before installation.

Paul, one of my buddies had pretty much the same problem. His inspection turned out to find that the canister was bent somewhat.

Next thought: have you looked at the underneath portion of the filter housing? Is it clean and free of any grit?

Yes, they're both round: the canister and the O ring! Mine are and have been square for quite some time.

When I looked close at the second photo it looked like a sq seal but inserted not on the flat to form a lip seal. I then went to my bin of spare parts and looked at the filter still wrapped in plastic, that too looks inserted at an angle if you will. Lastly I got brave, removed the wrapping, pulled the seal and, yup it's square!

Maybe that helps? It kind of like putting a new port seal in, if it fits flat, it's wrong!
