Yes, the Racor filter gauge installs on the supply side. It would benefit you if the gauge had a resettable pointer so you could monitor the highest reading (recorded at cruising or full RPMs) at any time....rather than ducking your head into the engine compartment while underway. Great tool as it takes the guess work out of filter replacements.

I don't know exactly what type Racor filter you have. But on my Racor 500FG, the vacuum gauge screws into the top of the filter, replacing the "T" handle that secures the top of the filter. No other plumbing is required if you have that model/style filter.
