Hey folks, i was backing out the plastic vent nut on my racor fuel filter (220p) and it broke. Half in hand, half in the thread. See image attached. So, two questions:

1) any suggestions on how to get the rest of the nut out of the thread?

2) I see a racor seal repair kit available online for about $80. Is that my only option to replace the nut?

Thanks for any input.

Or should I just replace the whole unit for a Snapp? Engine is a Yanmar 3JH series...

You might try an easyout. It is at least worth a try.
:plus:
You already have a centered hole to use for the ease-out. This could work.

Yes use the hole that's there to get a sharp tool inside it and twist. Otherwise, take the housing off and get to it from the underside. Take the screw to a hardware store and see what they have.

The Racor SNAP is inexpensive the first time, however the filter is about twice the cost of a replacement spin on filter.

If the hardware store solution doesn't work, then I'd be tempted to just replace the whole filter housing for~$40 more.

A coping saw blade might fit in the little hole so you could cut a slot on each side for a screwdriver. Then jam the screwdriver in the slot and use Vice grips on the screwdriver for leverage. A soldering iron might also be able to burn a slot for a screwdriver. A soldering iron might melt the whole thing out then chase the thread with a tap. Port plugs with o-seals like that are pretty common, get a metal one to replace it.
