I was milling around on boat today, and remembering it has been on
The hard 4 yrs, but before put on hard it was winterized, has oil in it, well long story short I put wrench on end of crankshaft and slowly gave it a tug,,,, spun around a coupe times with no resistance, what does this tell me? Is motor good to go, no rust or anything in chambers sticking ,

Probably good to go.. Make sure the decompression lever is in the "decompress" position.. close the seacock and spin the engine 10-15 seconds .. to circulate oil.. then open the seacock and put the decompression lever in the "run" position and she should fire up. .. run it an hour or so and then change the oil and check the fuel filters. If it was properly winterized, there should be no problem. Now change the seawater pump impeller..

If you do this, hold the fuel shut off in the stop position. This will prevent the injectors from pumping fuel into the cylinder while the engine is turning. It will have better compression when you release the decompression levers and thus start easier.

How do I get the old diesel out without removing original tank? And who else is still using original tank( mine is from 1984) versus upgrading to plastic tank

I would check the water pump impellers prior to start up unless they were new when you put her to sleep. They can take a "set" when left compresses and can break easily when first used.
