The four of up planning today's transit of Delaware Bay were standing around yesterday discussing strategy and timing which are effected by our cruising styles. I found myself saying

I'm really a powerboater, I just have a boat with sails so I can hang around with a nicer class of people.
The much dreaded trip up Dbay was another milk run in today's conditions:

Up at three
Underway at four
Ruummm, roar
Here I be.

I actually sailed for about an hour after I thought of this ditty because I was an hour ahead of the tide turning fair in the canal. The weak flood and extra strong ebb we planned on because of the storm didn't materialize, probably because all the water is still locked up in snow.

I'm going to have to part company with my Canadian friends soon as they need to move south fast (no cabin heat) and I have visiting to do in the bay. I'm really going to miss them and we would like to spend one more evening together. If you are familiar with the area, please see my post on the general forum and respond there. We are looking for a nice destination for tomorrow night.

Roger,

Are you anchoring out or marina?? I would recommend Annapolis or the West River/Galesville. They both have their charm. In Annapolis you can pick up a mooring ball$ (or even better the wall at Ego Alley$). Lots of places to go and people around. The West River you can anchor out in front of Pirates Cove Restaurant and dingy to the restaurant (Thursdays is another great restaurant). OMG you are on the move!!!

Just checked SPOT, Strider is nearly in the Bay. August 2007 I had just sent my crew(girlfriend) home in a rental car. She was having unexplained choking episodes. We were in Chesapeake City also. But I turned north and went into Charlestown where I left the boat and went home for three weeks. When I came back I single-handed down to Annapolis, first an overnight in Wharton Creek and then a great anchorage south of Annapolis, Harness Creek off of the South River. Long walk to the boat show.
