Do anyone have a windlass from any of these produsers (Quick or Lewmar) on their Hunter 36 (2008.) I am planning to buy one and dont know wich model is best to place on the H36. Only these brands are awalable in my area.

I believe it is the V2; however, it appears that the V2 and V3 share the same footprint, only the specifications are different.Andreas7699 said:

My 2009 36' came with the Lewmar V2/V3 Vertical Windlass *002 Gypsy for my 5/16 G4 chain. It has worked flawlessly for nearly three years
Begs the question - should I anticipate it failing as well? Thus far, after 24 months, I have had to repair:HernandoBeacher said:

If you do go with the Lewmar be sure to make a cover for it. Please see an earlier thread on Lewmar windlass and water leaks. There is a direct path through the windlass to beneath the deck, and water will intrude, causing other problems on the way in.
I have also a LEWMAR on my H36
I have also a Lewmar and works fine (I used it last week-end with 30 meters of chain). The only problem found on the Windlass was the gap left for the chain. After many trials it was impossible to store correctly the chain without help (with my hands). I had to cut the fiber glass under the windlass, then made a nice gap with a correct angle wich allowed the chain to falled directly without any help. I built it very strongly with two types of fiber glass and finally put some gel coat. Nobody can see the difference but now it works !!. :dance:
