Pearson 303 Lake Charlevoix
Hello everyone! I have a new-to-me '85 Pearson 303. We're moving up from a Hunter 26 - both the Admiral and I got two-foot-itis at the same time, so we went to 30. :) We sail out of Lake Charlevoix in Northern Lower Michigan. The lake connects with Lake Michigan and our plan is to do some serious cruising next Summer ('serious' being relative, of course, since we're mostly used to day sails or overnights.) I've been a semi-regular on the hunterowners.com board, and I'd be very interested in talking with other 303 owners here, and I also look forward to learning from all of you Pearson owners, no matter the size. I'm in the directory. Regards, Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer II

Thanks Garner

Appreciate the welcome - Sea Dragon is a beauty. Hard to believe that these boats look so nice after so many years (granted, a lot of that is up to the owner, but they sure seem to wear well none the less.) Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer II

Hi!

Welcome - nice looking boat. We bought our P-31 last winter & have had a wonderful time sailing her this season.

Sounds like a theme

Seems like buying boats in the Fall is more common that I thought. At least up here it's very hard, because it's going right into storage after the survey!! (It was 29 degrees last night - sailing season is almost over!) So, I get a great sea trial that whets the appetite until Spring. Ah well, something to think about when I'm shoveling the snow in January, right? Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer II

Great input John

Appreicate the post, John. Our survey did show a few 'damp spots' with the deck hardware, but thankfully nothing major. I did a complete deck tap with the surveyor (to the point of driving him nuts, but hey, that's why I paid him!) No punk areas were noted. We have a few minor things we need to do and re-bedding everything on the deck (not minor) is next Fall's project. That's already good to know that I'm going to have to get to nuts - I'm used to the Hunter method of aluminum backing plates with no nuts. I'm lucky, the PO took wonderful care of the boat so Spring time should be pretty easy. Plus I have the entire winter to read the manuals - moving from a 26' with an outboard to a 303 is a pretty big jump for me! I'm in the owner's directory if you'd like to swap emails some time. Dave, I'd like to stay in touch, but I only check in occasionally - what/where is the owner's directory? John Gilbert S/V Teuta
