I know we have discussed moving the traveler before. But what if I built a dodger with the traveler integrated at the exact same location just on top of the dodger? Same questions or concerns as before or would this work. Mr. Cherubini your input would be greatly appreciated as I love this boat and don't want to spend the money on a poor upgrade. Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Strong enough?

Is this a standard rail and canvas dodger, or a hardtop type of dodger like factory built on some of the new boats? I wouldn't think an add-on dodger would be strong enough to hold the force of the main. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

Couple of comments.

Hi Bill, I have been watching your post to see if Mr. Cherubini might respond. Some of us discussed this a while back on the Cherubini forum. My H37C traveller is also on the bridgedeck. And I think a properly designed s/s arch could be strong enough to serve the purpose. And it could double as the connecting point for the bimini and dodger. But I wonder if there would be enough distance between the traveller and the boom-end for the blocks and mainsheet? My boom barely clears the front of the bimini and I would not want to raise the boom. Several owners have done exactly that however. My current plan is to leave it where it is and only tie the dodger and bimini together when not sailing.

There are few to no options

I have an H33, and I too added a dodger and bimini. I had several experts look at the concept of moving the traveler to a place over the dodger, but it would have been to close to the boom. As Ed mentioned in his response, it would not be a good option to move the boom upward. So, I just take aout the connector from the bimini when under sail. If some one does come up with a way to change the traveler in away that it would alow the connector to stay in place (without raising the boom), I would love know about it.
